Monday 25 July 2016 The Killing Joke

I’ve been looking forward to this classic Batman story for a long time but did it’s animated counterpart do this Batman story justice?

The voice cast is brilliant with the return of Mark Hamill as the Joker, Tara Strong as Batgirl and Kevin Conroy as Batman.

This movie was not your average Batman Movie. It takes you to a very dark place and is definitely not for little kids. Having said that I write this with a heavy heart, I was left disappointed with the movie.

The build up was enjoyable with it’s main focus around Batgirl and when Batman entered the scene, you felt his dominating presence.

They both equally kicked villain ass and it felt satisfying watching the fight scenes.

However once the real story kicks off, the build up seemed somewhat out of place and I felt they could have concentrated more on the actual story rather than the build up.

Joker’s origin story felt underplayed, his transition to insanity from having one bad day felt really undermined. The same goes for the famous ending of this story. I really wanted to like this movie and overtake my number spot of animated DC movies.

There have been some great animated Batman movies but nothing has topped The Dark Knight Returns Part 2 yet.
